Reading comprehension is a key homeschool skill that will serve them their entire life.Having kids complete book reports is just one of the ways we can check if they are understanding what they are reading. I created this free 1st grade book report to make it fun and easy to see how my child is doing.
As your elementary student is reading more complex books, story lines, and rich vocabulary it is important to ensure they are understanding what they are reading. But I decided we need some shorter to the point book reports that my kids would more eagerly use more often as they were shorter and to the point. By isolating these elements, students can better understand the story as a whole.
These worksheets for character, setting, plot, and conclusion help. The form can be used for any piece of literature. Students write about the theme, setting, characters and events. And they are finally at the age when they all have to do real book reports. The first is simply a form they can fill out that becomes their book report.
